Head Soph (Leadership Soph Team)

The Head Soph leads the charge in shaping the Soph Team and Orientation Week experience. They work to mentor Sophs, coordinate training, and shape the first-year experience from start to finish. This position is a full year position that starts in the fall, you will work all year along side the HUCSC and Huron’s Student Engagement team to plan out every single detail of the following year’s OWeek!

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Natale for being chosen as the 2025/26 Head Soph!

Applications are now closed for this year, keep an eye out next fall for your chance to apply!

Past Head Sophs:

  • Maegan Faubert (2022/23)

  • Thomas Caron (2023/24)

  • Sophie Tielker (2024/25)

Programming Assistant (Leadership Soph Team)

Programming Assistants make up the bulk of Huron’s LST. Four outstanding students are hired to help design, plan, and execute Orientation Week alongside staff and student leaders like the Head Soph. They ensure events run smoothly and that first-years have an unforgettable welcome to campus. These positions are incredibly rewarding but are more intensive than being general Sophs. They require a more significant time commitment during school year and the following summer in preparation for NWeek and OWeek.

Applications are now closed for this year, keep an eye out next fall for your chance to apply!

Huron Soph (Orientation Leader)

A Soph is a volunteer Huron student leader who helps welcome and support first-year students throughout Orientation Week and the academic year. They work alongside the Head Soph and other student leaders to build community, plan events, and create a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment for new students as they transition to university life.

Although the bulk of a Soph’s work is concentrated during NWeek (the week before OWeek dedicated to training) and OWeek, Sophs are expected to be active members of the Huron community all year long! This means attending events and continuing to be a resource for first years throughout the school year.

If you have questions about Sophing or the hiring process, check out Student Engagement’s Orientation Hiring Booths on October 28th and November 13th from 11am -1pm By the H-Wall!

2025/26 Soph applications are open from 9am on Monday, October 27th, 2025 through 9am on Monday, November 24th!
