HK Relay For Life
Relay for Life is a fundraiser organized by the Canadian Cancer Society to support cancer research and patient care, as well as meals and transportation to those who have loved ones with cancer. Participants form teams and take turns walking around a track to symbolize the ongoing fight against cancer, while honouring survivors, supporting those currently affected, and remembering loved ones lost.
What is HK Relay?
HK Relay for Life is a year long fundraising initiative for the Canadian Cancer Society that helps to fund cancer research, provide transportation and meals for families that have loved ones living with cancer, Camp Goodtimes and so much more! It is jointly organized by the HUCSC and KUCSC.
The organization runs initiatives and pop ups at Huron and Kings all year long from Spooky Gift Bags to the prizes at the Huron Ball. The fundraising culminates in March with a 12-hour overnight event at King’s. To participate in the final event, you must join a team and register!
What’s the 12-hour event?
The concept of the 12hr overnight event is a party with a cause - cancer doesn't sleep so neither will we! You’ll join a team and take turns walking around the building throughout the event to symbolize the ongoing fight against cancer. You’re encouraged to help fundraise before and during the event, participate in a variety of activities, prize tables, meals, opening and closing ceremonies, and a luminary ceremony where we come together to remember those whose lives have been touched by cancer. You don’t have to walk the whole time, the teams rotate so someone is always on the track. Your main role is to show up, support your team, have fun, and help raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.
This year, Relay For Life will be March 7-8th, 2026 from 7pm-7am in the Student Life Centre (266 Epworth Ave) at King’s University College.
