2025-29 Strategic Plan

The HUCSC Strategic Plan (2025–2029) is our multi-year roadmap for improving the student experience at Huron. It outlines our long-term priorities, values, and commitments, and guides how we advocate for students, run programming, and make decisions year over year.

This plan builds on the foundation of HUCSC’s first strategic plan and was developed through extensive consultation with students, council members, alumni, and campus partners. At its core, it centres the student voice and ensures that student needs remain the driving force behind everything we do.

What This Plan Is For

The Strategic Plan helps HUCSC:

  • Advocate effectively and consistently on behalf of students

  • Create initiatives that last beyond a single council term

  • Make transparent, student-centred decisions

  • Hold ourselves accountable to clear, shared goals

Our Key Priorities

Inclusive, Accessible, and Equitable Community

HUCSC is committed to advocating for a campus where all students — regardless of background, ability, or financial circumstance — can fully participate in academic and student life. Accessibility and inclusion should be built into campus systems from the start, not treated as afterthoughts. This includes proactive accessibility, meaningful student consultation, and strong relationships with administration to create lasting change.

Student Empowerment

We believe students should have the tools and opportunities to shape their own university experience. HUCSC works to expand leadership, engagement, and skill-building opportunities for students across all programs and backgrounds, while supporting student wellness, collaboration, and easy access to resources.

Transparent Advocacy and Student Representation

HUCSC exists to represent students. Our advocacy is guided by student feedback, data, and open communication. We are committed to transparency in decision-making, clear communication about our work, and ensuring students can see how their input influences policies and outcomes at Huron.

Long-Term Sustainability and Growth

This plan looks beyond the present. HUCSC is focused on financial responsibility, environmental sustainability, and strong institutional memory so future councils can build on past successes rather than start from scratch. Sustainability ensures that today’s efforts benefit future students as well.

A Living Document

The Strategic Plan is not static. Progress will be reviewed regularly, and priorities may evolve in response to student feedback and changing campus needs. Each year’s council is responsible for advancing these goals while staying responsive to the student body.

Your Role

Students play a critical role in the success of this plan. We encourage you to share feedback, attend council meetings, engage with HUCSC initiatives, and hold your student leaders accountable as we work toward a better Huron — together.
